Quebec among the provinces that have vaccinated the most

Quebec

Quebec was, Sunday afternoon, one of the Canadian provinces which had the best vaccination rate in the country in terms of percentage of doses received, according to calculations made by the covid19tracker.ca site.

Since the start of the vaccination campaign, Quebec has administered just over 73% of the doses obtained. As of Sunday afternoon, 84,387 of the 115,375 doses have been administered to the population.

Note, however, that Quebec has decided not to keep the second dose intended for people already vaccinated in reserve in order to speed up its vaccination campaign. Quebec was in first place for part of the day, but was overtaken in the early evening by Alberta.

Alberta therefore ranks first. She has used over 75% of her 59,800 doses. This means that 44,994 doses have been used in the last few weeks.

Third place is British Columbia, the province where the first case of COVID was detected in the country last year. These are 46,259 of the 71,200 (nearly 65%) of the doses that have been passed.

For its part, Ontario is the Canadian province that has administered the largest number of vaccines, 113,246 since the start of its vaccination campaign. However, in terms of percentage, the country’s most populous province was in fifth place with almost 58% of the doses used. Ontario has 196,125 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, making it the province with the most doses.

However, it is important to remember that the vaccine is distributed to the provinces on a pro rata basis of its population.

In the Atlantic region, Prince Edward Island is vaccinated the most. Just over 59% of doses have been administered (3,600 out of 6,075) as of Sunday.

New Brunswick (almost 45%), Newfoundland and Labrador (almost 22%) and Nova Scotia (over 20%) follow in order.

Manitoba, for its part, used over 33% of the 25,825 doses sent to it, resulting in 8,674 doses being administered.

Finally, the Yukon, the Northwest Territories and Nunavut have respectively injected 4%, 2% and 0.5% of the doses received so far.

It should also be noted that the number of doses administered in the provinces and territories does not necessarily correspond to the number of people inoculated since each individual may have to receive two injections of the vaccine.

In all, Canada received 545,250 doses of the vaccines ordered and used almost 58% on average (319,938).

Immunization statistics are compiled on the covid19tracker.ca site , founded by a student at the University of Saskatchewan. The data used comes from official provincial government data.
