Michael Bublé every day more Argentine between mate and Christmas

Michael buble

Canadian singer Michael Bublé, who has just released a special edition of his Christmas album “Christmas”, confesses his passion formate, the Christmas holidays and his Argentine family to the point of proclaiming his ‘change’ of nationality: “Now! I’m Argentinean!”.

The artist, a winner of four Grammys and who is married to Argentine actress and singer Luisana Lopilato, with whom he has three children, acknowledges that the Christmas holidays are a “very sentimental and emotional” moment for him.

Bublé is immersed in a round of interviews on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the appearance of his album “Christmas”, which has sold millions of copies so far and has become a classic of the Christmas holidays.

To commemorate the anniversary, he has just released a special edition of the album with seven new recordings, including a cover of “Let It Snow” and the new song “The Christmas Sweater

The 46-year-old artist explains that he chose “very carefully” the songs on the new album from among all his favorites from past recordings.

“I really wanted things that had excited me but that had not been heard. Because it is a very special year, being the 10th anniversary of that Christmas album,” he continues.

Over time, “Christmas”, in which other artists such as Shania Twain, Mariah Carey, and Thalía collaborated, has become Bublé’s most successful album and one of the best-selling in the world in the 21st century.

“Over the years, it has remained part of the culture. Including the memes!” laughs Bublé, for whom it is also an “honor” that his name is identified with this time of year when “the people are kindest” and life is seen “with the eyes of the children

Throughout the interview, Michael Bublé exhibits his devotion to his family and his growing acceptance of Argentine culture to the point of declaring that wherever he goes he drinks mate.

“I love mate”, the singer says in English before turning to Spanish with an Argentine accent: “You know, when you have an Argentine wife, mate is life

But he also does not forget his Canadian origin and he continues to wonder that mate is drunk by several people at the same time.

“I see that (the mate) is passing from one person to another and finally it reaches me and I think: ‘With covid, this is not very good. But I love it. I like the taste as well as its social aspect”, explains Michael Buble.

He also confesses how much he likes to speak Spanish, and how proud he is despite sounding “like a caveman” and not conjugating verbs well.

“I love my wife so much and it was so important for me to assimilate her culture and live in Argentina that now I can understand Spanish and speak it a little,” acknowledges the singer, who also jokes when he remembers how now when his in-laws interfere with him, can understand everything.

Michael Bublé does not resist and jokes about the cultural differences between Argentina and Canada.

“I usually tell my wife that Argentina is more dangerous than Canada. And she tells me that yes, Argentina is more dangerous, people kill each other but Canada is so boring that people kill themselves herself, “he says.

He also points out that “the big discussion” with his wife is about eating and going out times.

“When I go out with my friends, I have to finish at midnight. She does not go to dinner until 11 or 12 at night. And then she is around until 5 or 6 in the morning. It’s crazy,” continues with fun.

But despite the differences, the Bublé-Lopilato family has reached their particular agreements, also to celebrate Christmas, and they do it in the Canadian way, on the 25th in the morning, but also in Argentina, celebrating Christmas Eve.

So at night “we open some presents and in the morning Santa Claus comes” “And of course, instead of coffee we drink mate,” he adds.
