Barack and Michelle Obama will not sign a new agreement with the music streaming giant Spotify to distribute the couple’s content through this platform.
As reported on Thursday by the US network CNN, which cites a person familiar with the agreement as a source, Spotify and the Obamas “are heading for their separation.”
According to sources, Spotify did not bid for the rights to distribute new content from Higher Ground, the production company run by the former US president and his wife.
The Obamas signed a deal with Spotify in 2019 when they entered the entertainment business after leaving the White House. In 2018, they also signed a contract with the Netflix audiovisual content platform.
According to the network, the deal with Spotify will expire at the end of this year, when the final series of Higher Ground is scheduled to be released.
