The actor and comedian Bill Cosby has issued a statement after the Supreme Court of the state of Pennsylvania (USA) annulled on Wednesday the conviction for sexual abuse due to a defect of form, although not for the proven facts, since he was convicted in September 2018 for having sexually assaulted Andrea Constan d, an employee of Temple University, in 2004, using narcotic substances.

“I have never changed my position or my story. I have always maintained my innocence. Thank you to all my fans, followers and friends who supported me during this ordeal , ” Cosby says now in his statement.

The actor launched ” a special thanks to the Pennsylvania Supreme Court for upholding the rule of law.”

The Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office reacted to his release by showing that this measure does not actually exonerate Cosby and that he has only been released on a legal technicality.

“The majority decision of the Pennsylvania Supreme Court orders the release of William H. Cosby Jr. from state prison. He was found guilty by a jury and is now free on a procedural issue that is irrelevant to the facts of the crime.” said District Attorney Kevin R. Steele.

The judges found guilty on the charges of penetration without consent, penetration while unconscious and penetration after supplying drugs to Cosby, for which he had to serve three years in prison, of which he has been two.

Cosby, as reported by TMZ, is already in his family home, where he arrived accompanied by some of his relatives and in an apparently weak state of health.
