Biarritz snatches a tie in a nail-biter against Nevers in Pro Division 2 play.

Pro D2: Biarritz snatches the draw on the wire in Nevers

Biarritz Olympique, which had a terrible year in the top division and was demoted to Pro D2 as a result, salvaged a 22-22 draw away at Nevers on Thursday evening, which marked the beginning of the fourth day of competition.

After taking a 22-15 lead, the Basques appeared to be on their way to a third straight loss; however, a try scored by Joe Jonas (80+4) in the final seconds of the game and a successful corner conversion by Gilles Bosch allowed them to salvage two points from a draw. They go up to tenth place temporarily after previously being in fourteenth, while Nevers moves up three spots to fourth before Friday’s fixtures.

Before this breath-taking final, the Biarrots had already scored two previous tries, one from Thomas Sauveterre in the 25th minute and one from Bastien Soury in the 60th minute, while the Burgundians only had one from Lucas Blanc in the 39th minute.

Nevers, even though he was numerically disadvantaged after receiving a red card from his third row (41st), believed that he had a third success in a row thanks to the effectiveness of Shaun Reynolds at the foot of the field (5 penalties including one at 52 meters). However, this was done without taking into account Basques United and other players and was finally rewarded.
