At the World Rowing Championships, which took place in the Czech Republic, the tricolor duo emerged victorious in the double sculls competition.
Hugo Boucheron and Matthieu Androdias have maintained their position at the head of the pack. A year after winning gold in the double sculls event at the Olympic Games in Tokyo, the two French rowers defeated the Spanish and Australian duos to take first place at the World Rowing Championships in Racice on Sunday (Czech Republic).
The French, who did not compete in the European Championships that were held in Munich in the middle of August, soon took the lead in the race, and they ended up winning in a time of 6 minutes and 9.34 seconds.
Beginning in lane number 4, the French tandem ensured that their competitors would have no chance of winning by steadily stretching out their lead. The Spaniards Aleix Garcia Pujolar and Rodrigo Conde Romero, who had moved up to the third position at each intermediate, managed to clinch second place at the end of the race by passing the Australians David Bartholot and Caleb Antill. This was accomplished at the expense of the first-place finish achieved by the Americans David Bartholot and Caleb Antill.

After dominating their semi-final series on Friday, the pair representing the United States advanced to the championship match. They did so by defeating the Greek duo of Ioannis Kalandaridis and Athanasios Palaiopanos, who placed sixth and were eliminated on Sunday. After winning the double sculls world championship in 2018 in Plovdiv (Bulgaria), Boucheron and Androdias went on to win the European championship in the same event the following year in Glasgow and then again in 2021 in Varese (Italy).
