WTA: Mladenovic crowned in doubles in Seoul

The Frenchwoman, Yanina Wickmayer, and her Belgian partner, Santamaria, and Muhammad, defeated the American duo, Santamaria and Muhammad.

This past Sunday, the Frenchwoman Kristina Mladenovic, who is now 29 years old, teamed up with the Belgian Yanina Wickmayer to win the doubles competition at the WTA 250 tournament in Seoul. In the championship match, they were victorious over Sabrina Santamaria and Asia Muhammad, a pair composed entirely of Americans.

Mladenovic has now won a total of four doubles tournaments this year, including the Roland-Garros Championship, which she and Caroline Garcia won at the end of May.

The Russian Alexandrova titled in singles

The singles competition was won by Ekaterina Alexandrova of Russia, who is now ranked 24th in the world. In the championship match, Alexandrova defeated Jelena Ostapenko of Latvia, who was the top seed, by scores of 7-6 (7/4), 6-0.

Before achieving this accomplishment, Alexandrova had previously won her third championship on the circuit. This victory was Alexandrova’s second this season, following her victory at the WTA 250 tournament held in’s-Hertogenbosch in June. On Monday, she will point to the 21st spot, which is the highest ranking she has ever achieved in her career.

She stated on Sunday that “I want to go even higher,” alluding to positions higher than the Top 20.
