PSG’s first Champions League points come against Wisla Plock.

Handball: PSG scores its first points in the Champions League against Wisla Plock

PSG Handball began their run of triumphs in the Champions League on Wednesday when they defeated Orlen Wisla Plock in their home arena of Coubertin by a score of 37-33. This match took place on the second day of the group stage. On the first day of competition, the Parisians were defeated by Veszprem, the vice-champion of Hungary, by a score of 36-34. However, this time they were prepared for the Poles, who had previously taken them by surprise and won the Polish Cup in a match against Kielce and who had also won their first encounter against Porto (27-23).

Nikola Karabatic and his teammates were able to resume the battle on their own in the first set, owing in particular to a flashy performance by Kamil Syprzak, who scored seven goals out of seven tries to take a lead of 18-16 at the break. After that, they were able to extend their lead when they came back out of the locker room, counting as many as seven goals ahead, and eventually won their first victory of the European campaign, even though it was not a particularly convincing performance.

As a result of their achievement, they are currently in third place in Group A, just two points behind the group leader, Veszprem. Last year, PSG was eliminated in the quarterfinals of the competition; this time around, they will need to maintain their current level of play and be even more decisive during the third day of their journey to Magdeburg (Germany), which will take place on September 28.
