From her christening dress in 1926 to her neon green ensemble that she wore during the official celebration of her 90th birthday in 2016, wardrobeElizabeth II won the admiration of thousands of visitors who thronged the salons of Buckingham in 2017 for the ‘Fashioning a Reign: 90 Years of Style From the Queen’s Wardrobe’ exhibition. The exhibition was titled “Fashioning a Reign: 90 Years of Style From the Queen’s Wardrobe.” In total, close to 150 silhouettes were used to bring back nearly a century’s worth of military and ceremonial garb, as well as evening gowns and clothes for use at family gatherings.

Throughout her reign, the British monarch, who was one of the most photographed women in the world, had forged much more than a style, an image, similar to that of a pop star and recognizable among a thousand others: high suits in color, always with a hat, and a small black handbag at the bend of the elbow.
