To create a one-of-a-kind, high-octane edition, the up-and-coming watch brand from France is teaming up with the event organizer for classic car racing.

It would be an understatement to say that Etienne Malec, the founder of Baltic Watches, is a fan of antique sports cars; he is an avid collector of such vehicles. When he launched his business five years ago, he raised about half a million euros, so he makes it a point to always integrate his profession with his passion for what he does. It had already begun offering a Panda Bicompax that possessed automotive DNA back in the year 2004.

Today, Baltic is pleased to announce a unique watchmaking edition in conjunction with Peter Auto, a recognized organizer of several major classic automotive meets such as Tour Auto, Le Mans Classic, and Spa Classic… There are so many events that put the world’s most skilled drivers behind the wheels of some of the most stunning automobiles ever created. This Tricompax Baltic x Peter Auto is going to be put up for auction on August 26 at 4 o’clock, and the asking price is €2,370. A model with pricing that is unquestionably higher than those that are typically charged by the brand. However, this is a very unique edition, and there are only going to be 300 copies in total that are numbered.

The glory days of auto racing have inexorably and logically influenced the design of this Tricompax. Indeed, there was a time when the three-counter chronograph was the watch that, regardless of the brand, could be found on the wrists of the most prominent personalities in the world of motor racing. Because of this, the tachymeter scale on the black aluminum bezel of this limited edition watch, which is intended to monitor speeds of up to 125 miles per hour (200 kilometers per hour), is limited to only 200 units. The second hand, the minute counter, and the hand that corresponds to it are all decorated in orange, while the hour register and the hand that corresponds to it are decorated in yellow. All of this is housed beneath an anti-reflective double-domed sapphire crystal.

This chronograph is presented on a metal bracelet with “flat link” links, which was popular in the 1970s and evokes the era’s sporty and retro aesthetic. Because of its fine and flexible links as well as its polished and brushed finishes, it conforms flawlessly to the shape of the wearer’s wrist. Because it has a large number of independent links as well as micro-adjustments, it also has a high degree of adjustability. This chronograph has a diameter of 39.5 millimeters and a thickness of 13.5 millimeters. It is powered by a Swiss mechanical movement that is manually wound and has a power reserve of more than 60 hours. The movement is a Sellita SW510-M. These timepieces are hand-assembled, fine-tuned, and quality-controlled in France, close to the city of Besancon.

This chronograph also comes with a pair of flyback Chronos, which is the crucial device used to measure lap times on circuits, all the way through, much like it is done during rally stages. This was done to push the sporting logic to its absolute extent. These chronographs, which take their design cues from the Tricompax, come equipped with a “flyback” function that makes them ideal for usage in athletic contexts. For the record, this additional complexity enables the reset and the beginning of a new count to both begin at the same time.

Baltic and Peter Auto both had to come up with bespoke settings to accommodate this three-piece set designed specifically for gentleman drivers. This Tricompax watch is water resistant to a depth of fifty meters and comes with two stopwatches that are conveniently organized on an anodized aluminum plate from Carbone Liveries. This makes it possible to incorporate the stopwatches into your dashboard. The flat link strap, which is adjustable with a specialized screwdriver that is included in the package, can be switched out for the taupe calfskin strap.
