French-made timepiece for the Solitaire du Figaro.

A watch made in France for the Solitaire du Figaro
The renowned sailing competition in Nantes, France, has selected the watchmaker Akron to provide the official chronometer for its 53rd running.

It’s time for the 53rd edition of the intensely competitive Solitaire du Figaro card game. The training for participants will be broken up into three sections, and three major stages, and will take place between August 16 and September 11. After the exciting beginning of this 2022 competition, Nantes will also play home to the championship match itself. It will take approximately thirty skippers and the fleet of Figaro Bénéteau 3 to make it from the Bay of Biscay to the sea of Iroise, the English Channel, and the Celtic Sea. The distance between these four bodies of water is approximately 3,700 kilometers. “With three routes totaling more than 600 miles, all in the format of a four-day and four-night monument stage, this 53rd edition guarantees to give rise to a competition, where there will be no shortage of endurance or regularity,” says Yann Chateau, the race director. “This 53rd edition guarantees to give rise to a competition, where there will be no shortage of endurance or regularity.”
