It is meant to become the reference gateway for experts in the field of time measurement tools as well as enthusiasts of such instruments. The concept, which was introduced on the occasion of the Geneva Watch Days in the previous year, is not lacking in ambition: to construct a watchmaking Wikipedia and provide for free, online and on video, everything that one needs to know about watchmaking. This endeavor is sponsored by a foundation that is not affiliated with any one brand and is supported financially by donations. “I had been thinking about this idea for a very long time,” recalls Marc André Deschoux, the executive director of the project. “It seemed like the perfect fit for me.” When I first started my channel on YouTube, which is called Watches TV, I had the concept of compiling a watchmaking lexicon in my head. However, I was never able to commit the necessary amount of time to it because of my teams. Now that the time has come, I have a broader network of information and skills as a result of my 10 years of experience working in this industry.
