After two years of pandemic and virtual exhibitions, it seems as if the most recent men’s fashion shows used stunning scenographies in an attempt to catch up and make an impression on the audience. A refreshingly new perspective that reveals a great deal about the expanding significance of men’s fashion.

The male shows that took place in June of last year demonstrated that to differentiate ourselves from the other designers who were taking part in Fashion Week, we needed to put on a show. This season, the men’s collections have abandoned their illustrious reputation for caution and have instead ventured into territories that could (nearly) steal the spotlight from clothing. As if to rejoice about their improved state of health.

According to the IFM Panel (distributor panel of the Institut francais de la mode), the growth of men’s fashion was 29.8% compared to the same period the previous year in the first quarter of 2022. This is even though sales in the men’s clothing sector naturally decreased in 2020 during the pandemic. However, everything appears to be working out. That is why it is even more important to go out all the stops and demonstrate that collections are deserving of something more than a standard runway.
