In a statement, the Federal Attorney for the Protection of Children and Adolescents (PFPNNA), of the government’s National System for the Integral Development of the Family (SNDIF), reported that there is neither an ongoing adoption process involving the child nor to the family made up of García Sepúlveda and Rodríguez Cantú.
In addition, he indicated that “the Protection Attorney and the Director of the Center for Comprehensive Care for Minors and the Family, both from the state of Nuevo León, granted permission for the child to remain under the protection of the couple” during a weekend as ” special measure”.
However, “no evidence was provided to prove that the aforementioned measure was issued with the formalities required by law, such as that it be in writing, duly founded and motivated, as well as attached to the best interests of the child.”
The SNDIF indicated that under an alleged ” family coexistence permit”, the State System for the Comprehensive Development of the Family of Nuevo León would have allowed the discharge of a child who is under the care of the Social Assistance Center (public) “Capullos “.
In this regard, the Nuevo León Protection Attorney’s Office stated that for three months the child “has received daily visits from Mariana Rodríguez Cantú,” without clarifying or justifying the reasons for such coexistence.
And he argued that the child’s departure was authorized under the responsibility of Rodríguez Cantú because he represented a “significant figure” for him.
Regarding the violation of the child’s right to privacy, the Nuevo León Protection Attorney’s Office considered that the fact that the image and personal data of the child had been exposed on a massive scale does not constitute a violation of the right to privacy.
And he maintained that the right to identity can only be affected by the media, “because they are the ones that have spread information about the child by taking the images” of Rodríguez Cantú’s social networks.
The controversy occurred two weekends ago, when Mariana Rodríguez Cantú, who has 2.2 million followers on Instagram, took the boy home with supposed permission to spend the weekend with him and show him on their networks. social.
After the action, the Network for Children’s Rights in Mexico (Redim) expressed its “deep concern” for the “null perspective of children’s rights”, while Save The Children denounced a possible crime of human trafficking.
After the controversy, the SNDIF requested information from the State Attorney’s Office for the Protection of Children and Adolescents, for which “the appropriate measures will be determined.”
García and Rodríguez, who have drawn national attention for their controversies on social networks, justified the act to raise awareness about the conditions in which children live in the SNDIF public system.
