BLACKPINK’s ‘Pink Venom’ could return girl groups to the Hot 100 Top 10.

On the latest Pop Shop Podcast, we discuss BLACKPINK's chart possibilities and K-pop and female groups' Billboard chart history.

BLACKPINK has been active in this region since 2016; nonetheless, there are still two territories that they have not mastered: the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100 list and the very top of the Billboard 200 albums chart.

Katie and Keith speculate about the possibility of “Pink Venom” becoming the group’s first Hot 100 top 10 success in the most recent episode of the Billboard Pop Shop Podcast, which you can listen to below. Their previous best position on the chart was number 13, which they achieved with the song “Ice Cream,” which was a collaboration with Selena Gomez. While everything is going on, their 2020 project The Album launched and peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard 200. However, when Born Pink is released on September 16th, it has the potential to reach the top of the chart.

Listen to the full episode below, in which we discuss the impact of K-pop and girl groups in general on the history of our flagship Billboard charts, as well as break down the possibilities that BLACKPINK will be successful on the charts.

Also on the episode, we will discuss the latest chart news, including Nicki Minaj’s “Super Freaky Girl” reaching the top spot on the Hot 100 chart, as well as Rod Wave and Megan Thee Stallion both having their most recent albums debut in the top ten of the Billboard 200 chart.
