NBA: Milwaukee stays perfect, Lakers eventually emerge
Milwaukee has won each of their last seven games, including Wednesday’s 116-91 triumph against Detroit, while the Los Angeles Lakers have won two in a row, most recently against the New Orleans Pelicans (120-117 ap).
The Milwaukee Bucks, led by Giannis Antetokounmpo (32 points, 12 rebounds), defeated the Detroit Pistons by a score of 116-91 on Wednesday night during an NBA evening that was also highlighted by a victory for the Los Angeles Lakers against the New Orleans Pelicans (120-117 ap).
Nothing can stop Milwaukee at the beginning of the season, and certainly not the Detroit Pistons. They were washed away by the troupe of Giannis Antetokounmpo, who improved his double-double by adding five interceptions and four assists to his stat line. Jrue Holiday, who scored 26 points and was responsible for four three-point shots, provided strong backing for the Greek giant’s offensive efforts.
The Pistons were ahead after the first quarter, but they saw the score steadily go worse and eventually ended up with their seventh loss in nine games, which is the second-worst record in the Eastern Conference.
This widespread success, on the other hand, enables the Bucks to keep the lead all to themselves, fending off the galloping Cavaliers, who verified a sixth triumph in a row (for a loss) after the tense game against the Boston Celtics (114-113 ap).
Darius Garland, who had been out with an eye ailment, was able to make his return for Cleveland just in time to make a game-changing contribution to this upset. The young captain of the Cavaliers (22) has racked up 29 points, 12 assists, and five rebounds despite missing the last five games of the season. Donovan Mitchell, just acquired from Utah and scoring a total of 25 points, joined the celebration late in the game. At the same time, Jaylen Brown missed the shot that would have won the game for the Celtics (4 wins, 3 losses) on the buzzer.
Commenting on his first successful shot, Darius Garland, who is starting his fourth season with the Cavaliers, said, “I felt happy from my first successful shot, and I was not troubled by my eye.”
2022 All-Stars gloated over Mitchell’s performance while also praising their team’s exceptionally aggressive play in the game’s final five minutes. “I’m thrilled with this victory,” said one of the players.
“He contributes a great deal to the squad. (…) He has much expertise in postseason action, having competed there on multiple occasions (…). He was of great assistance to me,” he remarked.
33 pts for Doncic
After opening its counter against the Nuggets on Sunday, the Los Angeles franchise recorded a second victory against New Orleans (120-117 ap), one of the teams in the form at the start of the season. Although it is not yet time for big celebrations for the Lakers in the Western Conference, the LA franchise did so after opening its counter against the Nuggets on Sunday.
The Californian hero of the day is called Matt Ryan, author of the buzzer of a three-point jumper that allowed the Lakers to push the Pelicans into overtime, at 111 everywhere. If LeBron James had achieved the double-double (20 points and 10 rebounds), Matt Ryan would have been the hero of the day.
For the duration of the game, Lonnie Walker IV was the most productive scorer for Los Angeles, tallying a total of 28 points. The Lakers are currently 2-5 and are looking to improve their record shortly.
In Portland, where the Blazers were defeated by Memphis 111-106, the game was almost as close as it was in Memphis. Fullback Desmond Bane led the way for Memphis with 29 points.
The Grizzlies (5-3) are drawing closer in the rankings to Portland (5-2), which, on the other hand, is missing out on the opportunity to join the Phoenix Suns (6-1) at the top of the conference.
Finally, in Dallas, the Slovenian Luka Doncic continued his streak by scoring at least 30 points for the seventh time this season (33 in this case, along with 11 assists), on the occasion of the victory of the Mavericks over the Utah Jazz. Doncic was also named the game’s most valuable player (103-100).
