Latino soldier family, Johanny Rosario, receives moral and financial support

The family of Johanny Rosario, one of the 13 US soldiers killed in Afghanistan last week, has had the solidarity of countless people after the death of the 25-year-old, as well as financial support.

GoFundMe account shows that they have already raised more than $ 35,500, out of an initial goal of $ 20,000, to help their family, which is “broken and lost.”

This family of Dominican origin and based in Massachusetts is made up of his mother and sister, 21, whom he helped financially, according to the page.

The 13 soldiers, including four Hispanics, died on Thursday in an attack on the Kabul airport, claimed by the terrorist group Islamic State (IS), which also injured 18 US soldiers and dozens of dead and injured Afghans.

The attack, which consisted of an explosion caused by a suicide bomber with an explosives vest and an armed assault, occurred while evacuating Americans and Afghans, as well as citizens of other countries, through the airport, which is under US control

The remains of the deceased uniformed men arrived in the United States this Sunday, in a ceremony that included the president, Joe Biden, and his wife, Jill.

This was the second mission in Afghanistan for Sergeant Rosario, assigned to the Fifth Marine Expeditionary Brigade, Naval Support Activity. His first mission in that country was when he was 18 years old. Rosario spent six and a half years in the military service.
